Tuition & Pricing

       Initial steps:

  1. During the initial contact, I will find out if you have played before and if you have any goals. I will also ask about the music you would like to play. There will be an opportunity for yourself to book your free trial lesson (30 minutes).

  2. From the information provided, I will be able to create tailoured lesson plans. I do this by using an holistic approach to music education. I use technology and synthesia videos for my beginners. I also add music theory into these lesson plans for all ages and abilities.

  3. During your trial lesson, there’s two avenues I take. The first is for beginners: I bring with me an appropriate syllabus, a score of your favourite song/piece, and a synthesia video of this song/piece. During the lesson, we will work our way through a few pages of the syllabus, I will teach you how to play the beginning of your chosen song and I will ask you to play through the synthesia video to your best ability. The second route is for students who have had lessons before (no matter how long ago). I will ask you to play something that you are comfortable with, this way I can assess where you are at. I will ask you to sight-read some simple music and answer some theory questions about the pieces. This so I can get an understanding of how I can help you progress. I will bring a syllabus and a piece of your favourite music.

  4. If further lessons are booked, I will supply you with a folder, sheet music of your favourite song/piece and a record of learning booklet (for in-person lessons)

  5. For online lessons, I supply you with sheet music for you to print out and a learning summary.

Other information:

  • The youngest I teach is aged 4. These lessons are age-appropriate, I try to make them as fun as possible and introduce them to the basics of music theory.

  • Although I do recognise the many benefits of taking grades (ABRSM Prep up to Grade 8),  I understand its not for everyone because we can reach some goals in other ways too.

  • I have experience of teaching a wide range of students, this includes those with Downs Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy and neuro-developmental conditions including ADHD, ASD, Dyslexia and Dyspraxia. I have an up-to-date DBS certificate available upon request.

  • There are multiple reason why you might prefer online lessons. This could be because you would prefer to maintain privacy in your own home, you have a busy schedule or you may not live in the catchment area. Due to not travelling to locations, these lessons are also more affordable.

My lessons are student led, this means my focus is always to make sure you enjoy your lessons and get something out of them.
